University's Music Academy to hold open house The University
of Texas Brownsville and Texas Southmost College will host an open house and registration
night tonight for its Music Academy. The academy, now in its sixth year,
will make teachers and staff available to answer questions about the academy and
its course offerings. The Music Academy offers a variety of classes for
adults and children, including children's guitar, piano, violin and adult guitar
and voice. The academy also has private lessons. "The teachers and
staff will be on hand to demonstrate to people what is possible here and the university,"
said Mina Kramer, di-rector and founder of the Music Academy. "If you've
ever had a passion or interest in music and want to learn from people that are
talented and patient, come on by and we'll help you get to where you want to be." The
academy will also hold tryouts for its Children's Choir Ensemble. Around 20 or
30 students between the ages of 7 and 13 will be selected to join the ensemble.
